Official Opening of AA Singapore premises at Kallang Bahru

Singapore, 25 April 2014 – The Automobile Association of Singapore (AA) officially opened its premises at 535 Kallang Bahru, GB Point. The event was graced by Guest-of-Honour, Mr Jean Todt, President of the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) who officiated the grand opening alongside Mr Bernard Tay, President of AA Singapore.

The event saw about 300 guests in attendance, consisting of both corporate partners and AA members. Some of the guests included Mr Colin Syn, Deputy Chairman of Singapore GP; Mr Tan Teng Lip, President of the Singapore Motor Sports Association; Mr Gerard Ee, former President of AA Singapore; YM Tunku Datuk Mudzaffar Tunku Mustapha, Chairman of the AA Malaysia; and Mr Tony Stuart, Group CEO of Australia’s National Roads and Motorists’ Association (NRMA).

The relocation from River Valley, an iconic address of the Association which has grown synonymous with their brand name and heritage, to these interim premises at Kallang Bahru, was necessary as the old premises were no longer able to cater to the growing and changing needs of members due to ageing assets and building features. It was eventually decided that the Association would relocate.

Mr Bernard Tay, President of AA Singapore, shared that, “We saw the potential in this building at Kallang Bahru, being near to complementary amenities such as food and retail options, and car parking facilities, as well as a very friendly neighbourhood. This location also gives us chance to be even closer to members.” He also added, “More importantly, the new space gave us opportunity to review our operational flow and customer touch More Than a Motoring Partner Page 2 of 7 points, to better utilize space, further develop our suite of services and product offerings, and stay relevant to better serve members.”

AA at GB Point, Kallang Bahru, which started operations in November 2013, is planned as an interim location as the Association continues to search for a permanent location. The premises at GB Point continues to undergo improvements and enhancements, to serve as a blueprint for the operational and corporate design of the future permanent location.

The Association also plans to use AA at GB Point as a test bed for new service and product offerings, including proactive on – ground engagement of walk – in members by service personnel as a deviation from service staff seated behind counters, paperless automated application processes, and collaborations with like – minded partners who can showcase their services at the premises, just to name a few.
