FIA Appoints President of Automobile Association of Singapore to Audit Committee

First Asian Elected to the Post

8 December 2014, Singapore – Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), the governing body for world motor sport and the federation of the world’s leading motoring organisations, has announced the appointment of Mr Bernard Tay, President of Automobile Association of Singapore to the Audit Committee.

The appointment was announced during the FIA’s A nnual General Assembly held at Doha last week. Mr Tay is the first Asian elected to the post in the five-man Committee

“It is an honour to serve on the Audit Committee. The Audit Committee holds responsibility for ensuring the accuracy and relevance of FIA’s financial reports. I look forward to working with the rest of Committee members,” said Mr Tay.

Mr Jean Todt, President, FIA, welcomed Mr Tay’s appointment to the Audit Committee. “The FIA is well-represented in this growing region as our Singapore members are professional, loyal to the organisation and bring with them many years of experience,” said Mr Todt.

The main task of the Audit Committee is to ensure the accuracy, relevance and permanence of the accounting methods adopted by FIA. The Committee also checks and ensures the integrity of the internal procedures for the collection and control of information used for the financial reports.

Mr Tay was elected Vice-President for Region II (Asia Pacific) on 2 December at the FIA Region II (Asia Pacific) Plenary Meeting and concurrently appointed as council member of FIA’s World Council for Automobile Mobility and Tourism. Mr Tay had served as President of FIA Region II from 2009 – 2011.
