13 December 2022, Singapore – The Automobile Association of Singapore (AA Singapore) is pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Singapore Manual and Mercantile Workers’ Union (SMMWU), to form a Company Training Committee (CTC), as part of the Association’s commitment to better support and upskill employees and workers.

The signing of the MoU will take place on 13 December 2022 at AA Centre, 2 Kung Chong Road.

With the formation of the CTC, AA Singapore will work closely with SMMWU to design and facilitate initiatives that will prepare employees to be better equipped for the industry and support business transformation through charting a strategic roadmap for growth and transformation and strengthening capabilities of employees as well as redesigning jobs through reviewing of processes, technology adoption and innovation.

Through the CTC, AA Singapore and SMMWU will also work towards upskilling and reskilling workers for business and technology requirements for the present and future to achieve a holistic transformation. This will bring about enhanced productivity and innovation for AA Singapore and better career prospects and wages for the employees.

Commenting on the MoU signing, Mr Lee Wai Mun, CEO of AA Singapore said, “The formation of the CTC marks a key milestone of our partnership and forging of a stronger bond with our labour union, SMMWU. I believe that through this collaboration, it will help to build on the Association’s ongoing efforts to enhance and support our employees and workers by equipping them with the necessary skills and knowledge, and to remain relevant in the ever-changing and competitive industry.”

Mr Andy Lim, Secretary-General of SMMWU, shared, “SMMWU is committed to helping our workers upskill and build their capabilities to overcome the rapidly changing technology and the challenges of a ageing workforce. By 2030, one in four in Singapore will be over the age of 65. We want to work with companies for a win-win outcome.”
